Are You Satisfied With Your Care?
If you have kids you may have watched Big Hero6? In the movie one of characters develops a robot to be a “Personal Health Care Companion”. If you haven’t seen the movie, this clip gives you an idea of who Baymax is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEeBXUUOBiI
In order to deactivate him you have to answer the question, “Are you satisfied with your care?” If you answer yes the robot shuts down. It’s a pretty good question. Are YOU satisfied with your care?
We had work done on our van recently and received a follow-up survey basically asking the same thing, “Are you SATISFIED with your care?”. How would you answer that question? Yes. No. Maybe.
It makes me stop and think, what does it really mean to CARE? Many of us would probably say it’s not our strongest suit. We could probably also pick out people we know and say, “I know this person, they are very caring.” What makes them caring?
We might say they show kindness or concern, they are protective of those around them, they paying special attention to or make a conscious effort to show love and appreciation.
Are you satisfied with the CARE you are receiving and, on the flip side, are you satisfied with the care you are GIVING? Peter was one of Jesus’ disciples and in 1 Peter 5 he speaks of shepherding God’s flock under their care. He defines that care like this: - Not doing it because you must but because you are willing - Not pursuing dishonest gain but being eager to serve - Not lording it over others but being an example - Submitting to others and clothing yourself in humility Then he says in verse 7, as you are caring for others, you yourself should be “casting your anxiety on God for he CARES for you”!
Cast all your anxiety on him because he CARES for you. There was a lot of anxiety when Peter wrote this because at that time Emperor Nero was subjecting the church to awful persecutions.
Casting all your anxiety on God because HE CARES FOR YOU! No matter what the season of life is, be reminded that in the midst of it all HE CARES for YOU! And that challenges us to care for others.
Are YOU satisfied with your care?
The challenge is both: - Are you satisfied with the care you are receiving and - Are you satisfied with the care you are giving?
