We all know what’s around the corner when it comes to four seasons: winter follows fall, spring follows winter, summer follows spring and it all starts over again.

During fall into winter I need to get the leaves cleaned up and the garage cleaned out so it’s not stacked high all winter, the snow blower checked over while it’s still warm, winter tires ready to go, etc.

Life, however, is not so predictable in it’s seasons: joy, grief, sorrow, happiness, struggle, and blessings can show up at any time unannounced.  Often we don’t have time to prepare for what comes next.

That’s why we need to build a life and relationship with God that is solid on the day to day, not just in a season.

Makes me think of Psalm 1.  I won’t quote the whole thing, but a couple of statements say that a person who delights in the lord and meditates on His word day and night is “like a tree planted by streams of water” “whose leaf does not wither”.

The best preparation is daily, day to day preparation one step at a time.
