Keeping Parents in the Loop

This page is for all the parents out there that want to know what's going on in the Salt and Light Youth ministry. On this page, you will find all the information you need about previous and upcoming events, so you can be in the loop even before your kids are. Check here weekly for new updates.

General Updates

Youth will work on a 4 week rotation.

  • 2 Weeks will be small groups, hangout times, and less formal teaching.
  • 1 week will be a youth worship service with a more formal teaching and service like feel to it.
  • The final week will be a large group event and hangout. Examples like movie night, or Poutines, Pizza making, that type of stuff.

Weeks are not set in stone in terms of rotation; some months we might worship the first week and the event last week. I will be doing my best to update the website each week with what is happening.

The last and most different change is that official programming ends at 9pm instead of 9:30pm. The reason for this change is that it gets really late for our volunteers. Most of them are students who work on weekends and it is a lot for them to be consistently getting home around 10:30-11pm. This does not mean we are kicking the youth out at 9pm, it just means our official program is done. If some students want to hangout a bit after that is totally cool, but we want to try and honor everyone's time, especially yours.

Jr.Youth January Series Overview

Does life ever feel like a never-ending waiting game? Like you’re always waiting to get a little older, to gain a little more freedom, or to find a little more clarity about your future? When you think about the person you’re becoming and what your future holds, do you ever just want to skip ahead in your story to see how it all turns out, who you’ll become, what you’ll do, or what kind of difference you’ll make? In this four-week series, we’ll talk about all the questions, fear, frustration, and excitement that thinking about our futures can bring. As we explore passages from Ecclesiastes, Revelation, and more, we’ll discover four truths about what God has in store for us: we’re all a work in progress, your purpose is to be like Jesus, God’s plans for you are good, and your next step is to get closer to God.
